Hi,

Does any of you attended the process of flowing the carb in the throttle shaft area ? (or maybe the whole package ala Vizard)

Were there sensible gains ?

I didn't find the thread of the 2 splitted screw as I want to replace those with dome headed allen bolts.

Does anyone has the information ?

Thanks in advance

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

It has very little gain on a turbo lump, but as they say, every little helps, esecially as it doesnt cost anything.

I think that is just as valid a mod to do. A restriction in the inlet is a restriction. On a N/A car it may gain you a banana or two and I would think the same on a forced induction. The difference is you are starting with bigger numbers so the percentage gain is less.

I am sure most people on this site try and limit the bends between turbo and carb to lessen restriction, so why then keep restrictions in the carb?

Thanks Ben, that is why I contemplated doing this mod and I must confess I am surprised it is not commonly done by all of you guys since you really are performance enthusiasts.

After all the big yellow book states you can gain up to 30% flow in an SU with this mod and the piston area one (round to square to round).

It also states flowing the engine does result in "more power, same boost" wich if you can't change the turbo for a new, bigger, fancy one is good news.

Now, for those of you thinking this mod is not worth it, one can always keep in mind Renault 5 GT Turbo pushes 120 bananas out of a 32 mm carb with a 24 venturi !

Hence my question :
does anybody did this mod and noticed a difference ?

i'd say every little mod will help but then again how much will flowing the carb help?

off boost there are worse restrictions such as, the turbo, the intercooler or the restrictor in the plenum. hang on, dont we all agree we need the restrictor in the plenum? whats all that about then?

as for on boost? i think every one would agree with porting the head, matching the manifold, so why not the carb?
