How do we feel about the sorts of steering racks that are available at the moment? My current rack has no detectable play however it is 31 years old so I feel the need to replace it when the front subby is out. I see Minispares do new racks and reconditioned, I remember some comments on here a while ago about some new racks having a lot of play or not being the best quality but can't find the thread. Does anyone have any info or experience on steering racks or what is to be avoided?

If it has no play, just re-ues it.

None of the no-gen racks are anywhere near as good as the OEM ones IMO.

agreed, i went through 3 aftermarket racks in as many months..

turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

i have had a mini spares on for 2 years 20,000km no problems at all.

i did fill mine with gear oil before i put it in & let it soak in gear oil for days.

turns awesome no play at all, still awesome.
