Hi everyone, my mechanic mate has been assembling my engine tonight, what a chew.

He's try to put the pistons in tonight and the arp bolts I bought are too big in diameter, should we just put the std bolts back in or are the arp bolts a must...? If so is it ok to drill the rods....

Thanks

whats the part no on the ARP packet?

as Tom says, dont drill the rods, they yould need to be reamed, and even then the bearing bore yould need to be re honed,

depends what the spec of the engine is and what kind of power you will be aiming for.

it seems a shame that you cant use the arp's, if your in a rush (mini in the park) you might get away with the old ones i dont know... but when you start driving, you will get the taste for boost, and its nice to know you got the good stuff! i hate my head bolts after snapping one, when i can its arp's

as joe is indicating, cheak there the right ones. good luck!

power wont really make a differnce, it's the revs you need to worry about which you should be fine, it's not a high revving n/a engine with a 286+ cam...

You should be ok with 140bhp, but like said above, how long is 10psi going to last, my guess is a month tops before you decide to try 12...15...18 lbs *wink*

I would say use the arp's while you can, just for peace of mind tbh.

There really is no need for ARPs on an engine that will only see 7k maximum.

Low revving turbo engines have no requirement for uprated rods. The maximum stress on the rods (TDC on the exhaust stroke), is pretty much unnaffected by power made from a turbo engine.
