if your not getting the ignition light, it won't be charging

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

would it not show a constant red light then.so should i start off checking the chaging wires and would this affect the fuel gauge ???

The charge light works by having a 12v feed to one side of the bulb and it grounds though alternator. When the alternator produces a charge it sends 12v to the ground side of the bulb making it turn off. So if the bulb stays on its either wired incorrectly or the alternator is prducing a charge.

What happening with the fuel gauge? reading full/empty constant?

What clocks ?

Could be a blown bulb for the alt charge light.

Could be a defective voltage stabilizer for the lack of a fuel gauge (li'l lozenge shaped electrical thingy on the back of some clocks). Usually has a couple of spade connectors on the back for voltage input and load (which in most cases includes voltage supply to fuel tank and temperature sender if you have a coolant temp gauge fitted).

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
