I put in an order with Avonbar about a week ago for some 1293 pistons with a 10cc dish but have just received an email saying they don't have any in stock and it'll be a four week wait until they do.

Now the block, crank etc are all at the machinists who is waiting for me to sort out the pistons because he can't do the bores until he has pistons to match them to.

Basically I'd like to get hold of some ASAP because a four week wait seems a little excessive and the machinists are likely getting rather annoyed at my engine taking up space doing nothing.

What are the alternatives to Avonbar?

I know of AVR classics thats owned by the old Avonbar guy but their website doesn't have a phone number (or i can't see it) and i'd like to check they can at least get hold of some before i put in an order.

Cheers guys

Found the phone number! Spoke to Ian and have put in a new order. Like Avonbar they also can't get hold of any +20 10cc pistons but he sorted the problem by offering to increase the dish on a set of 6cc 1293's and balance them for an extra £20 thus saving me along wait at a little extra cost.

Asked about any kind of discount (mentioned TM) but he said since changing businesses he no longer gets the scale of sales he did at Avonbar so can't offer any kind of discount any more which was disappointing.

Very decent guy who also wanted me to say he's still alive and selling!

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
