Hi, i have an annoying issue with my nippon alternator that has only just started to occur.

I spent some time last weekend balancing the throttle bodies, had the car running for around 20 / 30 mins with no problem.

Now every time i run the car it sounds like the alternator belt is slipping when i blip the throttle.

I removed the belt to check it was the source and yeah sure enough it stopped.

So i have 2 questions.

What could cause the belt to slip? as the tension seems correct..
Could it be the alternator its self, even though its new.. and the bearings spin freely??

cheers, Mark

Is it a V belt ? If so and it has worn enough to touch the bottom of the vee then its likely to slip under load. v belts are meant to drive on the flanks of the vee

battery nearly dead, making the alt harder to turn?
tighten the belt as far as you dare and fire it up if it stops whining, at least then you know if it stops its the belt slipping

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...
