Right lads, im wanting to run my lights in my attic bedroom (lads room) on a dimmer switch, the lights in the attic are halogen spot lights that are wired direct to the ring (no transformer type). The current switch is a 2 way with one at the bottom of the stairs and one in the room. Ive gone throughm2 dimmers but both have blown up? What am i doing wrong? Can i not run them on a dimmer?

Not sure, but its normally only transformer types that are non dimmable, although some are. I cant see any reason why you shouldn't be able to dim those, just double check the wiring, and that the wattage of light doesn't exceed the dimmers capability. On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

Dimmers come in different ratings, 120watt, 250watts, 400watts etc etc (you get what I mean)
