This is the fourth time the Alleycats have been up on ebay and not sold.

They are genuine 13x8 with SP9000's. Refurbed, powder coated and wet painted and they haven't been used since. The refurb alone cost me over £300 and I'm asking £500 for them. I don't know whether i'm asking too much or they just aren't to everyone's taste but i need them gone without making a huge loss.

I saw a similar set in standard colour go for about £450, not meeting the reserve, a few months ago. Why won't anyone buy mine God damn it!!

I think they look really good in this colour, maybe it's just me.

if they are new tyres on them with the pipples then yes ! but if the rubber is worn then no your asking too much IMO

Yeah, the tyres are used. I had a fair amount of interest in them but nobody seemed to want to pay what I was asking. I imagined because they are in such good nick combined with the fact they are hard to get hold off someone would want them. I might just have to put them on auction with a reserve.

unfortunately, its the way it goes. you may have spent 300 on them, but that doesnt automatically mean the wheels are now worth 300 more. you'll be lucky to get half that back.

Take for example, a conservatory costs 10,000, but will only add roughly 5,000 to the value of the house even when the plaster is still wet.

I went through all this when i was looking at getting the wheels refurbed on the TT; I could buy a new set for less than the repairs

ebays funny, ive seen cars not sell on buy it now at 2/3rds of what thay would sell for at auction.
i recon its because in auction people will bidd more as others have bid that high so obviously its worth that much money ... right????

i won a set of massive landy wheels/tyres for £100 because no one else bid, i could sell them in auction for £350-£450 easily.

With new tyres they would be worth what you are asking, but 2nd hand tyres are worth near enough £0. A new set of continental 195's is going to be about £280.. a quick bit of maths then puts the value of your wheels at around £220. Maybe £300 with the tyres that are on them.

I'd rather use them as coffee tables than sell them for £300 to be honest. The tyres have decent tread so I very much doubt they'd be worth nothing in my opinion.

I might whack them on a lower start price next time and see what they go to.

You can't really include the price of the refurb. I've just sold my 13"x6 with very good tyres for 200quid, and it cost me £160 to have them refurbed, with 0 miles

I think I probably feel worse about them because it took me ages to find them, then buy them then refurb them. I was never planning on getting rid of the Mini so never thought of having to sell these. I think I'm going to have to accept that I'll probably lose out on these. If they were bigger I'd fit them to the Supra, I don't really want to let them go, mainly because I love them but they are taking up valuable bedroom space and I need the money

You can Paul yes, but they are copies and mine are originals. Although saying that, most people don't even know there is a difference. I'll whack them on again lower once I shift all the stuff that sold today.

Alleycat wheels were always more popular on cars other than a Mini (Escort Mk2 for instance), so there is no real history to them with the Mini

You can buy brand new Alleycat 7x13 Wheels and SP9000 Tyres for less than £480, so your used wheels and used tyres would have to be something really special for people to buy them at £500

In the end, even though they are refurbished, they are still second hand, and so the price would be about half of what they would have been new, unless you can find that special buyer who is looking for those exact wheels

I think that the main problem is that they are 8" wide and useless to put on a Mini.

Probably better off as a coffee table.

Yep if you want to find out what they are worth start em at 99p and just let em go.

allycats are horrible imo and never worth £500
£500 buys alot of far better looking wheels imo

Have you tried listing them for other cars with 4" pcd? Expanding your market.
