I am getting the crank on the TT2 nitrided in the next few weeks. The cost is by weight and there is a minimum order of £52 +VAT. For this I can get 2 cranks done.

If anyone would like to join me for £25 let me know.

Of course the problem is collection and delivery to me. The place is in sheffield, so for those between York and Sheffield I can pop by on my way down. for others it may not be so cost efficeint.

If no-one is interested I'll just chuck another 998 crank in.

Cheers

Wil

Don't need one doing at the moment Wil. But may be interested in having 1 or 2 done in the future.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

No, you need to polish the journals back up, but not grind.

Not 100% on how I'll do this at the moment, got a machinesist to do it last time.

Polishing is easy, just drop it in the lathe and use emery.

That's a vey kind offer, I'll let you know. a mate round the corner has a lathe, but not sure a crank will go in it.

Could probably get one in my lathe, but chances are it will be bent when you take it out again...

I thought it had to be a EN40 crank to be nitrided. Not?

No. If you use EN40 or EN41 you get a minimum 0.4mm thicness. If you have other stees, such as EN16, you ger a maximum of 0.4mm.

And something is better than nothing.

The EN16 crank I previously had done worked well and 10 years on has no wear.
