Although I would like to use them, the standard arches (ie, disk brake onwards but before sportspack) don't quite cover my 6X10 wheels enough to be "legal".

So, for the MOT at least I need something slightly wider.

Having searched all the usual suspects catalogues the obvious solution seems to be "Group 2" or "W&P" (including various replicas/copies).

But the "group 2" all seem to have a flange around their lip for a trim strip (which I definately don't want) and the "W&P" need new holes drilled in the steel wheel arch lip rather than using the standard fixing holes.

Ideally I want to use the standard fixing holes (so I can quickly/easily swap between standard and wider) and have an enclosed design like the standard ones.

Anything out there that I haven't seen ???

How about these

use standard fittings, but might be a tad wide.

Thanks Andy, but yes, they are too wide.

I need 2 1/4" to 2 1/2" (which is what "Group 2" and/or "W&P" are quoted at.

you could look at it another way; get a cheap set of 5" wheels to run it through the MOT

You will find that it is not an MOT failure to have your wheels extending past your arches. What you will find tho is the police will pull you over and fine you or give tou an unsafe vehicle slip. This is what happened to me. You then have to amend the problem and grt the slip signed by an MOT station even though it is nothing to do with them, pay them to do the check and then present the signed slip back to your local police station, where they will no doubt tell you the problem isnt fixed! As they did with mine.

The turbo build has finally started

I thought it was visible tread outside of the body work/arch that was the problem?

it is. Looking at your build thread, I would say you are OK with the standard arches, certainly on the rear.

Police will put you if tread sticks out from the arch, the way to get around it is stretched tires, still as 'dangerous' but nothing the popo can do.

Many thanks for all the replies....

Rob, I'll give the 5" wheels a miss (I can't move in the garage already)

Neil, Colin, I can't find any but I have seen the Monte carlo description somewhere but without a size, I'll look again.

Re. all of you over the "legality", whether it's MOT, VOSA, Police, Construction and Uses Regs, I would just like to have a foolproof backup solution :)

There are no Police around where I live - last Police car in the village was two years ago and he was lost, asking for directions - but the A14 run has a VOSA pull-in run at the Suffolk end (slow all traffic down and pull in the ones they want) regularly when I travelled it on business.

This is more or less what I have on mine, but painted the same colour as the car. As they are fitted to the lip they can be trimmed to fit different offset wheels.

Or do it an easy way for mot as your wheels imo are not wide enough to cause a problem just tape some flexible rubber inder the arch so it covers the tyre if your worried, i ran std special arches with 12x6 ultralights with my mini never had a problem with the fuzz

Drives
-Ford S-max Mk2 Ecoboost
-Rover 100 VVC #2 - track project

I agree, it's Mr VOSA that you need to worry about, they have a good knack of finding something wrong with your car!

Theyd love me then in which case. In all fairness i do try not to give the police reason not to pull me by driving reasonably sensibly, and they generally just seem interested as they drive past and whatnot.

Thats what ive been getting away with thus far, i do want arches to cover, but theres nothing i really like that fits the bill.
