So my next problem.....

All the photos I've seen, and from memory, Clubman headlights are standard 7" round ???

So I bought a mega holesaw for my flip front,

Cut the holes,

But the holders don't fit....

It's not the holes I cut but the "rectangular" recess - basically the recess is too small top to bottom.

Is this just because the front is eBay cheap and nasty or are the clubmam holders different.

the actual headlight will fit but I either need to enlarge the openning where the holder sits or knock a couple of flats on the holder :$

Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ???

The round holders do fit a steel clubman front, obviously yours is constructed differently. Make some flats on the bowls.

I used standard ones on my steel front; I can't quite recall but is there not more height on a standard mounting panel above the bonnet line (if you get what I mean) that would let the light bowl fit in.

do you have a clubman grille to fit up - this would allow you to centralise the fitting and give you an idea where it should be as well

I have noticed on photo's of peoples fg clubby fronts small areas cut out at the top (underneath the wing bonnet area) to allow the bowl to sit in the correct position.

one day boost will be mine!

I think most people tend to notch the fibreglass where it needs to. I didnt fit mini headlights to mine otherwise id take some pictures, although ive found the 7" mk1/2 golf headlights to be bigger than a minis 7" as my clubman grille doesnt fit around the light properly, but that just maybe down to my lights.

as other have said. you need to notch the upper part of it up inside the wing. The reason the front end is made like this on fibreglass is that if it was made exactly like the steel one they would be unable to get it out of the mould.

I know, i had to 'modify' mine, just to get the grille to fit where its supposed to!
I dont mind though, say goodbye to rot, and hello to less weight and ease of access :)

The bowls should sit on the bottom and stand proud of the top, sort of under the lip of the bonnet that overhangs them. Easier on a 2 piece front...

I used a die grinder and a carbide burr to make the holes. Loads of fun and I looked like a snowman after, but its a great way to make accurate holes and shapes in fg.
