After the failed BMW that some might be aware of, I got my old leon FR back about a month ago. But as things usually go still wanted something new.

So thought to myself why change what you know. So of i go looking for leons, found a gem, 10'000 miles in dark grey, cupra edition, ipod dock, xenon's etc. So i brought it!

My god, the first thing you notice is the brakes, 100-0 in what feels like 30ft!

the turn in is better than the fr due to the aluminium suspension components and the pull is strong from the 240bhp engine.

Needless to say, i am having it revo'd monday and reports are that i should see 300 bananas and a shed load of torque. In my opinion a much better option than the golf!

Still no mini, but with the shit roads in the uk i'll take my chances in a hot hatch

The cupras are very nice, few mates of mine have them, they go really well, and they repond very very well to a re-map.

I know what you mean on the handling, after driving a normal 3series e92 bmw then getting into the new e92 m3 the difference is unreal, the turn in is so crisp, goes exaclty where you put it. You ll also notice in the cupra it will be a lot more stable at high speeds, it wil sit rock steady at 120mph no problems.

Pictures please. *happy*

Who said anything about it being long? *wink* 0-120mph in that thing doesn't take long believe me lol. A long private road it will sit rock steady on the limiter at 155mph *wink*

In about 2001 I got a 405 Mi16. It was my first "fast" road car in terms of top end speed after having Minis of various sorts before.
I went everywhere at 120mph+ for the first few weeks.
I was lucky not to get banned or a jail term to be honest, on a few occasions I can remember doing 140mph+
These days although I don't hang about, I won't go much over 90mph. I guess it is a combination of growing up and realisation of the possible consequences.

*surprised* I'm like that and I'm only 21! I had an Impreza and Calibra at 19 and drove like a bit of a bell end, got caught once and should have lost my licence but didn't and now I rarely see close to a ton. Saying that, it's a very nice looking car although if it were me i'd have some bigger wheels on it.

For a while on my commute it was a rare day that I didn't do a ton. The main thing that stopped me was my X/19 with the lights up would only do 95. Lights down and 100+ was easy.

Then with more traffic and growing up 80+ is a surprise these days.

At least the kids are at an age now where the shout to go faster rather than cry when I go fast.

I stay the right side of 90 most of the time, unless I,m riding my bike.

My car is now getting to be known round here so I have to be a bit more careful.

Very nice, i didnt like these to start with and they have grown on me.
As for the speed side of things i used to drive my dad old e90 330 company car for 11months untill i could afforde my mini, it was so smooth you could be on the german motorways... not realising your doing 90+. It would do 155 and still be quieter than the pug at 60.
Saying that drove an old ibza (sorry spelling) cupra at work and that was noisey as hell very odd as a 206 gti was quite quiet

i think the dark wheels will not stand out to much, as everything else is black, grill, grill surround badges etc, It just looks a bit random with silver wheels.

As for bigger wheels, i don't really want to lose acceleration or comfort etc etc, plus don't really want to spend a £1000, would prefere to spend that on the exhaust system and new fuel pump, apparently so the forums tell me, you can see up to 350 bananas from a decent remap, exhaust (turbo back, high flow cat etc) apr fuel pump, air filter....which is about £1500. not bad really. Having it revo'd at some point next week, which is about 280-300bhp. should be interesting and still 30+ MPG due to the high pressure fuelling (i believe)

Is it direct injection?

I have no idea if its direct injection, let me google......

wiki says...

fuel system

fully demand-controlled and returnless; - fuel tank mounted low pressure fuel pump, Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI): inlet camshaft double-cam driven Hitachi single-piston high-pressure injection pump maintaining a pressure between 30 to 110 bars (440 to 1,600 psi) in the stainless steel common rail fuel rail, four combustion chamber sited direct injection sequential solenoid-controlled fuel injectors, air-guided combustion process, multi-pulse injection with homogeneous mixing, stratified lean-burn operation with excess air at part load

Apparently on some of the early engines the fuel pump lobe wears against the cam, then explodes into the engine, but can be fixed with a new follow for £16 every 15-20k, but this is there only real problem. but constant checking will fix it, i think mine being a 2008 should be ok, but will check anyway. Still love driving it and the handling and braking is fantastic as standard...

rick, naturall directly after its down to 20 (might have a lead foot) but the difference in pick up and mid range is fantastic. started driving a bit sensibly and seeing 30+ mpg..decent for a 300bhp car (apparently, according to revo)

very happy with it though!!!
