Just sprung a big oil leak which seems to be coming from the exhaust side near the water pump end of the gasket.Oil running down the block, front cover and spots on the pipework in that area.Is this a well known failure mode?I seem to remember the oil feed to the rockers passes up this area.Any comment would be much appreciated before i start pulling the head.BTW the oil press is 55psi on the relief valve.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

steve yes thats where the gallery is a shade off set from the middle of the head about 2" in, have you tried to retorque the head up ? maybe this would cure it but i doubt!

its not usually an issue there but............. there are some belgun gaskets BK450 which have given some members on here a back foot

hope this helps

If we are talking about the oil feed to the rockers then I thought it came up on the other side of the block i.e. the alternator side ?

It does dave, inline with that square lug that sticks out of the back of the block.

Thanks for the input.I suspect then I have a head gasket blow into the pushrod area.I've seen a report of this on an MG forum.
