Alright chaps.

Ive recently had my block acid dipped and have noticed that the hole at the front of the block just bellow the oil pressure relief valve has had its 'bung' eaten away by the acid. What can I put into the hole to seal it? It looks like some sort of rivit was used from factory? Can I do the same?

Heres a pic.

Also I come across a problem when I came to turn the engine over on the starter. It wouldn't turn over at all, like it was jammed, I turned the engine over by hand on the floor before it went back in and everything was fine, but when I came to turning it over on the key it just jammed. I accidently turned it over in gear and now it turns over fine *Confused* Could it be a faulty starter? Its a pre-engaged jobby.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Ordinarily you would drill and tap the oil gallery holes for grub screws, but it sounds like you've already built the engine up?

I's still say tap it and bung it, just gease the tap well to catch the swarf.

that hole is part of the relif valve outlet so any swarf will go straight to the sump right in the area where the magnetic oil plug is.

also pre engaged starters can go a bit funny and not spin, a good whack normally gets them going again.

The classic for jamming engines bolts that are too long in the engine mounts on the wok. Can't explain why starting it in gear would fix this though.

Yeh the engines all built, I've replaced the oil gallery plugs with new ones, but I forgot about this hole. Ben, I think it was a starter issue tbh.
