I gotta big socket and some bars but the pinion nut is ether v tight or l/h tread ?? Would a impact driver be easier.

Mind u i ain't got the "haynes manual assistant to stand on it"

Also - Try wedging the gearbox underneath something - maybe a workbench, or a car - oh, See Mark's advice!
Somethign else i've done previously is to drill some holes through my bench, and bolt the gearbox to this!

if the box is off engine .... get a xantia .... put suspension to highest setting ... put box under sill of xantia upside down , lower xantia onto box ........ use big fook off bar on socket and nut WILL come off.

and what if you dont have a xantia...

that has to be the all time top tip so far mark!!

hire one or get the jack out and use mates car

Or in fact if you are not flush enough to afford a Xantia for your tool box then get a BX instead they are much cheaper and if you fancy a laugh can be driven round the block with one of the rear wheels missing and the suspension on high.....

Think it will go down the garage tommorrow for a windygunning or stick it under the lift ramp

Have you tried the 3 wheeler thing? It does actually work believe it or not!

lost a frontwheel on the coast road at 55 ish , front end dipped then self leveled and ran on one wheel and one disc !!!! came to a safe stop , got out and when back up road and got my wheel !!!! flatted one part of disc but no body work damage .lol
