Hi

Re-timing in my cam after S.R.E suggested it may be out some time ago.

I have set to TDC and turned 360 degrees back to top dead centre and then to 108 degrees and hey presto, the 2nd push rod from the right hand side looking from the front is at TDC.

Now, just to double check, this is not right....

It should be 106, so with new chain I should time in at 104. But this should be straight after TDC and not a whole rotation out??

So infact I had it 2 degrees the wrong way, plus the cam is 180 degrees out? Does this sound about right?

Your help would be appreciated, I am hoping to get this mini to castle combe.

Many Thanks

Jon

yes youve fluffed up find TDC on n01
piston, set protractor to zero and turn the engine clockwise from the end of the crank pully full lift will be 106 what you want but allow .............2 deg for the new chain stretch so set it at 104 jonb ........you get the picture ..?

So is it right then that the no2 push rod only hits top dead centre every other rotation of the crank?

If so this is fine and I can just set the timing as I thought, thank you for the advice.
