I'm looking for and early type oil filter housing like this one.

it's not the really early type as it still needs to use the late type spin on oil filter

Isn't that only on 'autos'?

Filter looks like it'd be mounted more forwards of the common design - you got space Jim?

Also - wow, think of all that extra weight! Longer bolts aswell!

I'm sure I have the space dave.
I just think it would be easier to put an oil temp sensor into it, as there is more room on it.

I just removed one of those from BIR1. maybe I could send it back as "selling sand in Sahara".
I've used the "new" one to save weight.

On another note Jim. We haven't really agreed on where to put the temp sensor. But, wouldn't it be better to have the sensor BEFORE the oil cooler?? I'd think so, but I don't know..

I'm now thinking of installing in the oil cooler, but before it's cooled. There are many options, I only want a rough idea how hot the oil is. Would postage be silly from where you are mate?

I bought this adaptor plate from DT to fit in the oil lines.

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/pr...GA2&from=search

really, I was thinking of fitting two gauges for starters. One in the sump, and one before the oil cooler. If one also fitted one after the cooler. we could have this debare killed off forever.. (When you are killed I guess you are forever anyways)

Edit: Link to DT.

Ha ha, i was going to buy that if it was cheap, then figured it wouldn't cost me anything to machine one myself! lol!

Its only a square block with 4 holes in and one tapped thread *smiley*

Might start knocking them up.

Jim, thats what i was trying to explain to you a while back, it would be very easy to tap on side to put a temp sensor in.

thanks for that, I am now thinking of using an ally block, tapped just like that one, and put the std oil filter housing onto that block, then put my oil temp sensor in there, and put my oil pressure sensor in the std place.

Where the hell is the oil filter on the auto engine ? just had a look at the one i have it's wedged under a load of junk round the back of the garage. The block isn't even tapped where the usual housing goes, it's totally blank ?

Thanks for your input guys, but I don't need one anymore, I've made adapter plate between the std filter housing and the block, I've got an oil temp sensor mounted in there nicely!

not bad for 30 mins work
