I don't run an alternator, so I have to squeze a belt on. It is quite tight I guess.

wil I used to run autograss minis with no alternator, the way I did it was to dismantle an old dynamo right down to the bare bones and then modify the end case to give me basically a tensioner wheel to use with a std length belt? Did not weigh much at all by the time I had done it, I used to squeeze a short belt on like you say but had problems with it jumping off once or twice hence I moved to this set up.

Yeah Tom I've had problems in the past with the belt being thrown off. It turned out that the pully was buckled, never thrown one since the new pully has been fitted.

pos more on a turbo Well that's a load of bollocks - why would a turbo make more power/torque than a nat-asp when an electric pump is fitted? Electric water pumps aren't new. Miglias have been using them for a while. Can you afford one? Have you pursued EVERY other power-making avenue such that finding another 1, 2 or 3 hp is becoming a real challenge? If so, an electric water pump is ideal. If not, spend the money on something else that gives better hp/? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

Just to explain, the electric water pump cannot create any power, it only releases the power consumed by the mechanically driven pump.

We looked into an electric pump, but without an alternator I get worried about power consumtion. also with the side rad i'd still need to run a fan so it's easier just to run the mechanical pump.

I'm running an electric water pump this year, I'll let you know how I get on. On 15th May, 2009 TurboDave said:
