just wondering how much the main companies charge on building
gearbox's without parts for example avonbar charge ?1650 for sccr with sc drops and quaife lsd but is this good or do they put a lot of money on labour, is there anyone on her who can build my box cheaper?

Well it'll be new bearings, and cleaned/inspected other parts...

TBH - I bet they make very little - maybe ?100 or so on the assembly. Fact is, they're makign more than that on all the parts you're buying from them. They could build it for free and still be making money...

tip - minispares do gearbox rebuild kits - all new bearings and gaskets.
Price up one of these, along with all the other parts you're looking at, and see what it comes to.

As soon as you go to a LSD, you need to machine the casing and that takes a fair bit of time...

The rest is as dave says!

Wht you want - lots of trackday use?
If so, they are better than an 'open' diff...

Drag-strips?
I've never run one - but get equal/better (?) 60ft times to the other 'quick' guys on here, so i'd say not... But that assumes your suspension is set up properly...
If it isn't, and LSD will send you into the wall, or drag you up the track...

oh - forgot one...

General road use?
Probably not notice the difference between an open diff and a quaife when parking / low speed manouvering, but a trannex, or other plate diff will be a lot heavier.

Depends what you want from the car. X pin diffs are a lot stronger and more durable than std. LSD's will transform a high powered car by controlling wheelspin and giving more traction.
LSD's are approx 4+ times the price of a x pin.

The quaife is a great diff, got one in my 205 track car. However I wouldn't recommend one for everyday use over high mileage, due to the design they do wear themselves out over time.

The Tran-X does indeed...

You cannot really see in this picture though. I've used Ford flywheel bolts for the LSD, as these have got much "lower" heads.

Yep ! Got the bolt heads machined down on mine, this meant i didn't have to take quite as much of the casing away.

The gearbox casting does most definately need machining/modifying to accept the Quaife lsd. I've just had to do the job myself. As for the JKD equal length driveshaft kit the man you want speak to is Turboharry, he is the only guy that I know of who's running one on his turbo mini.
