Australia oi oi oi!

so my rear A panel is rusted & has rusted the mk1 brackets away there is a bit of a hole.

it's not bad inside at all but the middle of the outer A panel has some rust as well, right in the middle

i know alot of you are very good & do lots of rust repair on those salty roads! we have none of that.

could i plate the middle for the A Panel?

no i was thinking about 2 thick plates to support the hinges? from behind? anyone done this. instead of forking out to cut from original panels.

with the inner A panel ( inner hinge panel) maybe we should cut the brackets from 2 new panels? as above.

otherwise as i said just weld in some thick plates behind? the whole panels are not gone at all, just the brackets.

Replace the whole panel. you'll need to take the a panel of to do the hinges anyway
