hi all im after so technical advice on engines, my current set up is 1293 supercharged injected. lost alot of compression 3 cylinders are on 5 bar and 1 cylinder is on 4 bar and is smoking alot its never been right, so im goin to build up my 1275 mg metro engine that i have spare.
i am going to go 1293cc again was thinking omega forged supercharged/turbo pistons 18cc, what crank and con rods are advised, want the engine to be reliable and powerfull would like to hit 140-150hp
if i got the 18cc pistons would i still need to use decompression plate? i guess its depending on the cc in the cylinder head.
was thinking cross drilled and wedged crank?
are steel conrods a must?
thanks
matt *happy*

Use the standard crank and rods. Just make sure that they are all round where they should be and straight where they should.
You never need a decompression plate. With 18cc pistons you don't need big combustion chambers either.

Mine gets in the way a bit, but only when it is up. If it is down it does not cause a problem.

ok, are you sure on standard crank and rods how much horse power and torque can the standard crank and rods take safely?.
saves me alot of money :)

its rpm that kills the cranks and rods not power,

I would be happy using a standard crank and rods up to 7000 rpm, and worked crank and rods over that.

Ive taken std bottom ends to 7500, above that I'd fit arps bolts and cross drill and ballance,

you can use any turbo cam for a supercharged angine, also Stuart Gurr at Vmax has a few charger specific cams, also the RE13T form keith calver (piper) is worth a go.

You said you are going to rebuild a MG Metro engine.
Assuming it's a NA engine you could use the MG cam; it's supposed to be pretty good.
