I'd like to hear from anyone who has coilovers AND rear beam fitted to the rear of their Mini

I'm concerned that the whole of the rear weight of the car will be put through the single small pin at the back of the radius arm

I have seen this snap on non coilover Minis before

Has anybody found this to be a weak point with coilovers or is it up to the job?

I will be strengthening the top mount, so no concerns there

Is there some kind on reinforcing bracket that can attached via the backplate bolts to help take the bending stress out of the mount
or
can you get a larger diameter pin (1/2 inch), but this also means having a larger bottom mount on the coilovers themselves

The Mini will be used on the road, so will get a pounding from the terrible road surfaces around my way

Any suggestions are much appreciated

Never had problems with mine. Done 2800 miles in the van. No issues other than I have GAZ offset coilovers at the rear and needed to fit 11 inch 125lb 1.9in ID springs to prevent the KAD rear caliper from smacking the bottom drip flange of the wheelarch.

No issues at all with the rear radius arm pin. As it's for road use I'd stick with the standard pin on yours mate.

Richard.

Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.

Im sure KAD sell stub axles with a larger shocker pin.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Yep Kad do,

Ive got them on mine in case I ever wast to swap to coilovers, I just drilled the shock bush to suit, I think they are 3/8 rather than the std 5/16.

goes to look...

nope they are 1/2", and 3/8 std

You can always cut off the 3/8" pin, then drill and tap the spindle to take a 1/2" good quality bolt and drill out the bush on the coilover. Im sure you can buy the coilover with 1/2" bush anyway

I seriously doubt it!

I like that idea Paul, that'd mean you could remove a shock more easily without disturbing the radius arm.

@Joe C
I saw those KAD pins, but the website says they are for KAD's own alloy arms

@paul wiginton
I like that idea, and if one does snap it should be easy enough to change
