Morning

I have never touched a gearbox before hence the question.

Looking from the front underside of the car, where the engine mount bolts to on the right hand side there is a seperate piece which bolts to the side of the main gearbox casing.

My issue is that the joint between the 2 pieces is leaking oil.

I want to know if it is as simple as draining the oil, unbolting the side piece and putting a new gasket or are the internal components connected to this part?

Thanks

Jon

Never seen one leak there, its normally the timing cover and or seal, or the speedo connetcion.

Having said that I have rebuilt a gearbox where the previous person who rebuilt it, never bothered his arse to remove all the old gasket, it pissed out oil.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Just to double check, can I actually remove the housing with the engine still in the car?

I have been having a look and it looks quite a tight fit?

Thanks

Jon

Before you go any further, check that it is not the timing cover above as Sprocket suggested.

When the timing cover leaks (common) it can look like it is the speedo drive housing.

I am pretty sure its the gearbox casing, there is no oil anywhere else at all.

Do you think I would be able to remove this with the engine in?

Thanks
