Hi guys,

I have nice offer to buy old mini :) This would be my second project :)

However guy who selling it does not have any doc, (log book) and there is no chassis number plate :( I am very worried that this mini might be stolen or what so ever, so How can I check it??

oh yes, the mini is outside uk and seller says that he has this mini for 20 years but as he started restoring it he lost chassis number plate and he can not find logbook :(

Maybe I can just but chassis number and log book from other old scrapy mini and put it on? :/

or there is the way to get original documents??

*surprised*

Nothing special!

legally with no id of any kind it cant go back on the road, or you buy it and sort out a v5 from a scrap mini and dont post about it on a forum........

edit* as its got to be imported i think you'll find it hard with no docs.

Could it be registered with a Q plate?

The turbo build has finally started

Yes but you'd need to pass an SVA (which it would fail).

If it's cheap too, you really need to question where it has come from.

I'm sure if you are going to import it, you are going to need the papers to re-register in this country as well.

If you have a UK reg and a chassis number then it is possible to apply for the V5. There is a form, but I can't remember its name/number.

Best advice is just dont do it - far too much potential grief.

that why I was wondering if there is any way to check it, because I do not want buy and drive stolen mini :( I would never do that...

or if there is the way, than I would report to police and maybe mini would go back home :)

Yea maybe the best deal is not to take it *wink* I do not need problems *happy*

but it would be nice to check if it is stolen or not! maybe some one is looking for it :)

I will try to pass that place again and check for number plates!

Nothing special!

The amount getting it back into UK.....is it really worth the hassle?
