Just a question about the connection on the rear of the block. I think i remember being told this is for an oil return and it should be blocked off. Is this correct and if so what should i be using, is there a ready made part that can be purchased?

The connection is indeed for an oil return. It is the oil return for the Turbo, so if you are running a Turbo you will need to use it, not blank it off.

Ouch that could have been painfull!

So this should connect to the lower oil drain on the turbo then, could i just scavenge a part from the scrappy for the block side connection?

Also while were talking about oil I was thinking about where to pipe in the oil cooler. Seing as the turbo is generating the serious temperatures would it be better after the turbo so as to cool the high temp oil flowing straight into the block.
