what does one need to do to a meastro block to run it in a mini ,is it possible ?

I think its just the rear main cap robert. I'm sure Tadge44 would know.

I would image it's the same a converting a Midget block, there's a thread about it somewhere but I'm struggling to find it.

Not sure about the Maestro Robert, but the only issue will be, as stated, the rear main cap. If its enclosed and the oil does not need to be contained,like the mini, then even that is not an issue. The crank is likely to be different though as I believe it was coupled to a Golf type gearbox so may not have the taper on the tail for the flywheel.

Do you actually have one ?

i have if i go and get it ,i have a mini crank ,would that just drop straight in and i ignore the main seal?
... or machine the main cap down to clear the primary gear ?

I was told by a chap that has maestros and various a series engined cars that it will go on without work, but I don't know whether I trust that advise. get it anyway Robert, fit a mini main cap and have them line honed.

Thats the best advice, but expensive.

I suggest (and I think you will agree Robert) fit the crank with the original caps and see what it looks like.

unfortumately the gravy tends to end up all over the place .2nd gear was ok .:)
