right then, Richard has been helping me with my straight cut box assembly and idler tolerance (read built it for me). He has told me its .001" over tolerance or 0.008". Ive checked with somerford and the 0.136-0.137" shims are £45! how important is it with the sc drops for the tolerance to be bang on??

Thanks, Richard has come to the rescue (again!) he found some idler shims in his car!! and they bring it down to 0.006" tolernce which is where we want it. panic over! Thanks for the good advice as always On 7th Nov, 2011 apbellamy said:

Have you got an original Rover gasket there? You could try onw of those. Also, make sure that the gasket mating surfaces are CLEAN. I always use an air tool like this

When I got my set I was told to shim them to 0.001" I was told 0.008 was way too loose Own the day
