Australia oi oi oi!

hi lads

are there any type of shims or anything like that to line these doors up?

there seems to be less gap on the top so i will undo & drop it a touch more.

my drivers side only wont shut like i need to slam the hell of out it to get it nearly shut & it jams, i found some shim looking things from them originally though but this is a new door.

i know there is a lot of rover mini's in uk so any help would be lovely.

You need to use the shims.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

Coke cans would prob work just fine. However I'd prefer something steel.

Anything steel cut/drilled to shape.

Avoid stainless steel and aluminium, dis-similar metals just encourage corrosion and the studs on those hinges are weak enough already.

Also make sure you have the much thicker plate on the other side underneath the nuts that spreads the load - without it the A post will deform and the door will drop anyway.

If anyone is interested we produce stainless steel shims at at 0.5&1mm thick most only do 1mm shims

you can also undo the catch on the body and move it outwards ,so the door wont need slamming .

I guess you have checked the wear on the hinges. Shimming a worn hinge never works well, I have tried and ended up replacing them.

hi they are not worn, we put the old shims back & it shuts perfect.

still needs a good slam to shut.

what part are you talking about robert?
can you link me on mini spares?

if it is what i think it is i think i need a new one on the passenger side.

He is talking about the striker that is mounted on the B post. Requires a No.4 Phillips bit to undo the screws.
