Oh god, sun rims. Say no more, i hate the things. You'll probably find that those rims are fine for normal use, but they look more XC orientated to me, so don't really take much of an impact. The rims ive got aren't the dogs nads as such, but are designed to take a hit from the word go, so stand up to much more abuse. Ive never broken a rim ive spent thereabouts £40 on, the last rims i had lasted years of park and street abuse, and generally only needed truing now and again.

Can you get around the other side then? Just looking for an off-road route from Thrappo to Aldwincle that does not involve stiles. On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

I've got Mavic 321 rims on one of my bikes and so far they taken a hell of alot of abuse (DH, FR etc) but I'm not sure I'd use them for DJ (about the only thing I don't do) I've also got a set of DeeMax wheels for my DH bike and they are seriously meaty, I reckon you could ride them through a mine field and have the benefit of being bright yellow so would match you pedals. also forgot to mention, if you buy a different rim youll more than likely need different spokes. if thats the case go for the DT Swiss double butted jobbies (Y) but remember to add at least 20 quid for spokes and another 20 quid for building if youre not doing it yourself On 26th Jan, 2012 Tom Fenton said:

If thats the case i better off with just getting a whole new wheel. I was gonna build them myself, or have a pop. Not sure yet. On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

They're pretty simple to build, the only tricky bit is getting them true but most bike shops offer truing fairly cheaply. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:

How do you work out what spokes you need, do you the the wheel and hub at hand? On 17th Feb, 2011 apbellamy said:

If you look on DT Swiss' web site there's a handy spoke calculator, however you'll need to take a few measurements off the hub & rim. Isambard Kingdom Brunel said:
