Hi all,

I'm returning to my first love, and after some 10 years or so away, I want to do it well.

I have bought a H reg Cooper which has had all of the structural side of things done and pretty well restored. I intend to turbo it but am unsure of which route to go down.

I can either stick with a straight A+ Series as per metro turbo

or A+ Series with BMW K2 head and turbo

I'm looking for about 150bhp

Brakes??? I know the metro turbo items simply bolt on, but what other budget options are there, I read that you can mount Fiesta anchors on the mini, I will be retaining the 12 inch wheels unless brakes force my hand.

I will be keeping a project topic going as I go, I'm an owner of my joint first love the Renault 5 GTT so am acustom to the boost. Looking forward to getting stuck in.

Andy

Hi and welcome, if 150bhp is all you want then stick with the 5 port and keep it nice and simple.

All the information you could ever need is hidden away in these forums, so make good use of the search button at the top.

Have fun

hello mate welcome, as above, 150bhp is no problem with an a series, the metro turbo brakes are cracking or there are alloy 4 pots aviable from minispares, minisport, ( but i would avoid) kad etc etc depending on your budget.

Nice one Chaps, thanks for the warm welcome.

OK so 150 on a 5 port should be fine then, If I'm going down that route, I'll be buying a 2nd hand LCB cutting it to bits and mounting the T25 to one side for ease of access and negating the need to chop in a bulk head box.

Will get started on this next week.

Hi Bennyy - with the metro items go straight on the mini hubs and also will the mini drive shafts be suitable?

Minispares sell some drive flanges suitable for the metro turbo discs, to use genuine metro flanges you have to machine thfn to fit, Yeh the mini hubs and shafts are fine.

Use the search function, there's a big write up on them.

Hello and welcome.

You also need 'ERA' Calliper bolts to put metro callipers on mini hubs- imperial thread, metric shank

Minispares also sell these, about £3-4 iirc.

Hi Andy

Think I spoke to you at the RTOC pod day. Good to see you thinking about the mini. Only advise would be to try and future proof your build as you know the boost is addictive!

LOL Bennyy, I know what you mean.

Thanks for the input chaps, can't wait to get on with it now, just need to clear some space in the 2nd garage to get the 5 out of the way.

Maybe it's just me that needs to talk to Frank :) I fixed it and then broke it again sadly it's been pushed into the garage :(
