I have put roll cages into minis before but none with a Harness bar. Its a Roll centre cage and im really struggling to get it in. I cant get the ratchet straps on the back legs because the Harness bar is in the way, and thats how id usually do it.

Any suggestions?

maybe remove the front windscreen and try to fit it in from there, also use another rachet strap for the upper legs on the pic ....

I really dont want to take the front windowscreen out, ive only just put it back in. The upper legs in the pic wont move, because of the harness bar.

You have to put the rachet straps right at the bottom of the legs to get it in, personally i would use two on the bottom one really tight brining them in and the othere abit looser and then take it in turns loosening each one off when its where it needs to me and bobs your uncel

Bit harsh as he already has the cage...

Best option is trial and error never fitted a cage with a welded harness bar before, but have done a very ill fitting fix diaganol cage using the above method.

Good luck with fitting it

Did you get it in? I would of thought you would need the side windows out it was tricky enough with just a fixed diag.

Blimy that looks tricky.

As it goes, I don't recall useing a strap to put my cage in, just jiggle it around, but this is without the bins. Do you have the rear bins in

Yeah the rear bins are in, i did say when they made the cage for me that the rear bins are in and hes modified the door bars for me, but whether ones been in a car with the rear door bins is another matter.

Bit of an update, i cant get it in. There is no way its going to go in.

So we have rang up Rollcentre and they have said theve had no trouble fitting them and mine seems to be a bit of a mystery. They said cut the bar out the back.

I really dont want to start chopping up a brand new cage

Stoke-on-Trent. Duck.

I added a harness bar to my 4 point reat cage (no diagonal) - but the harness bar has a sliding section to allow the legs to the rear arches to come together. Any way - long story short - even with the harness bar allowing the reat legs to close in by 3 or 4 inches, the lower half of the cage legs bent inward with the ratchet strap.

With you having the diagonal and the harness bar, I don't think it will go in without seriously bending the drivers' side arch leg. Or cutting the harness bar (unfortunately) *frown* Or taking off the roof *surprised*

Would love to know how Rollcentre think it can be done...

I had trouble fitting my roll centre cage too. Its been a while since it was fit, but i seem to remember placing the rachet strap as close to the feet on the two vertical arms and tightening. Then when getting in i lay the cage flat in the front and then lifted it up high to clear the narrower sections on the door pillars. it was rubbing on the sides but eventually went it.

Oh and i removed the plastic covering too as its amazing how much smaller the feet are!!

feel your pain have fitted many cages, always tricky!! problem you have is the rear bins, they would be the easyest and quickest things to remove and refit if needed, good luck with it

+1, i cant see you being able to flex the backstay legs enough with the ratchet straps whilst that harness bar is in place, so either the bar or the bins need altering.

Have you tried with the windscreen and rear quarters out yet?

I wouldnt know if the rear quarters would make a difference because i cant get it past the Door pillars.

like you both said i think its the rear bins that are the problem
