Spent this afternoon down the workshop. I manged to mount my oil temp and oil pressure sensors, I've been putting this of for ages.

I also managed to plumb in my electric water pump, I was hoping todo this last week, but I spent all day turning the impellors down.

I also spent ages re routing all the water pipes, the oil cooler in the pic is being used as an extra rad (not mounted yet) I plan to run the hot water from heater output in head, and from turbo into a T piece then through this rad, then into the top hose. Do you think this will work?

not tempted to just run a leccy fan and ditch the pump housing all together? thats my plan but then might run a front mounted rad somewhere!

Not sure on that T piecing to be honest, reckon the water will go one way or the other and not both

I think I need to weld a new T peice which directs water in the correct way, maybe more of a Y than a T, do you think that would help? how would you do it?

reckon id do heater take-off to turbo to extra rad then back in the top hose...

not sure its the best idea though.

Yeah i know T's arent very good at all, Y's are much better *happy*

if I do it your way iain, I'll be taking hot water from top of engine, and putting it through turbo to get even hotter, would it not be better to take it from bottom hose through turbo, and then connect turbo outlet, and heater take off, through a auxilary rad then back into main rad

Hmm, not too sure, possibly from the head, through the aux rad, through the turbo then in the top hose to cool down again?

Ive got these things to figure out *happy*

Looking good though mate *smiley*

Looks great. Don't use an old oil coooler as a water rad. It's very inefficient when used with water, as it-s designet for different flow and viscosity. Honest :)

Ben - I think that's a oil pressure switch / pressure gauge sender, not an oil temp...

Ian and dave are right, it's a TD5 intercooler.
The sender near the oil filter housing is a temp sender, and the other is oil pressure. I will be using a non permanant temp sensor for use before and after the intercooler (so I can find correct place not to over cool the oil)

sorry my mistake *blush*

although if i did not want to drag the engine out.

could make an adaption block for a oil temp sender to fit in there you could determine how efficient the cooler is ! if you have sump sender also!

having said that with out looking
is there any place with the engine in situe

can i tap the g/box case 3/8 gas to place a sender in???

i know its not the right way to go as for the swarfe etc .................... just wondering ?????????????????????????*happy*

I was looking at this, a good place to tap in into the gearbox would be in the endplate which the spedo housing goes into, as you could take this off with engine in place (although it would be bloody awkward) drill, tap, fit sensor, then refit to gearbox

Yes that is where I am planning to fit one, more because I don't want to risk knackering the entire g/b case, the end case is easier to come by!
