Anyone do it here, me and my mate where bored at the weekend so decided to make an apple press.

Might not be up to food hygene standard but it works, with. Little modification itl work even better.

Now just got to figure out how to make it alcoholic when we get 40 pints of juice, got 40 pints of ale on the go already :)

Anyone here had a go at brewing?

My old man makes wine - and has recently (after prompting!) started doing lager too - i've got to admit it's pretty good too, around 45 pints for £15 aint bad in anyone's book!! :)
First couple of lots he's done with a lager concentrate, so you just add the sugar, water & yeast i think....
Good luck! let us know how you get on!!

I had a taste of the cider that my neighbours made last year, it was fooking terrible.

It seems the trick is getting the correct mix of sweet and sour apples.

I made some a few years ago.

There are lots of cider recipes on the net, but basically you do not need to do anything to make it alcoholic. The natural ingedients will do that. Just put it in demijohns, keep inside till Christmas, then put it in a barn.

Then next summer you can drink it, or throw it away :)

Yummy.

Well did a loada apples gave up at around 25 litres, got all sorts of apples cooking, crab, tasty ones and some just odd ones, added quarter of a container of sugar (like a tea set container) tasted the juice and it tasted nice so whaced it in the fermenter so hopefully in a few months we will have some rocket fuel :) ill report back on how good or bad it is.

Chucking in a couple of bottles of Crabbies part way through imparts a pleasant ginger taste to the brew.

The difficult bit is smashing up the apples to a consistant pulp.
