I have the 2 engine breathers attached to 2 K&N type mini filters. The one next to the radiator seems to blow a lot of smoke.

Would it be better to revert back to the one way valve system (the wee red thingy), if so has anyone got any pics of how this should be properly connected.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated as mot is nearing.

Paul.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

if put into the inlet then it will lower the octane of the fuel.

if its smoking hiding it isnt really the answer. its doing it for a reason.

if its not to bad then dont really worry, you can route it to a catch tank then i bet it wouldnt seem as much.

shouldnt effect the mot really. unless it goes out on emmisons but i doubt it. its only from the breathers

If i take the filter off and rev it the smoke is bad? Engine has only done 100 miles or so since rebuild.

With filter on its only bad if u really give her the revs.

leave it to bed in then. rings wont have had chance to run in properly yet id say. should clear up once you get some miles on it.

just keep an eye on it thats all. maybe a compression test would be a good idea incase any rings got damaged on fitting *smiley*

This has been discussed quite a few times now.

New engines need time for the rings to bed into the bores. Full stop no exceptions!

As long as you were careful installing the pistons, and are confident that you did not break a ring, then stop worrying about it for now and get some miles on the engine. If anything, at the moment it is a good thing to have some oily charge going in through the intake whilst everything is still new and bedding in, so re-route your breathers in the standard manner.
