Do you want a program that will generate the needed files (Gerber) to have a board made by a board manufacturer or do you simply want to make a circuit on a proto board?

Im basically trying to design a circuit to use with a gear box im trying to build. Im hoping it will be something I can build myself so mainly looking for some kind of software that I can draw the circuit, to make sure everything work before making it.

I'm using KiCad (Jean recommended it to me a while ago) and although it took a little bit of getting used to, the results I get are superb.

i'd try using a version of crocodile clips now known as yenka i belive, its educational software that you can build up a circuit on test it and plan it out as a printed circuit board. its been a while since i used it and its been developed quite a bit since then aswell as when i last used it i had to used another piece of software (pcb wizard) to map out the circuit board itself .

Ive got the Yenka one, and finally managed to work out how to use it this morn...have to say its spot on once you get used to it!

Fuck it! Yenka won't let you use it between 8.30-3.00 because its only free for home use...
