i am currently collecting bits for a 1275 turbo build but i am stuck as to what pistons to use. i am looking at mini spares 1275 low drag items with a 8.4cc dish and a cylinder head from turbo Phil (i believe that is who makes them?) with 25cc chambers.
i am not looking for all out power but reliable power that will happily poodle along but will still be a giggle when i open the taps. i will be running a gt17 turbo from a saab. i just need to know if the engine will provide sensible power levels with that set up?

my second engine build is just an idea at the moment but its a 998 with a t2 im looking at using mini sport hepolite dished pistons and a 12g295 head would this work or would the block need modifying (something i dont want to do)

sorry for the essay of a post but id rather ask alot at once than keep starting new topics and feel like a spammer..

12g295 fits without mods.

The cc required in your pistons will depend on what CR you are aiming for.

on the 1275 i'd look for dishier pistons, with that head and pistons your looking at about 9.5:1 CR, with either a 28cc head or 11-12cc pistons you'll see about 9:1 CR which is what I would aim for,

On our budget 998 turbo build we are using the dished 998 pistons, 20773s with a skimmed 12g295. CR will be around 9:1.

just to add im aiming for 100bhp if possible from the 998 (i know tht will need bottom end mods but im prepared to do it) and about 130-150bhp from the 1275.
And im not going to bore the engine out it will stay 998 or 1275cc.

standard bottom end for the 998 will more than be enough for 100bhp.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Yes 120hp on mine.

Strange choice of piston. Alternatively use the Minispares Evolution flat topped pistons and find an unskimmed 12G295 to give 9:1 CR.

But would dished pistons not give a lower compression ratio and allow me to run more boost and get more power out of the engine of would that then need bottom end mods?
