Hi,

I am starting a new project, and the first step is to rebuild my metro sport engine.

The cylinders will be +020, new pistons, and I also need to replace the camshaft.

I think I'll go for a swiftune SW5, but I have no idea on what I need to buy with it.

Do I need to change the head spring?
How do I proceed for the timing angle?

I hope my questions are not too stupid, that's my first experience in camshaft replacement.

If anyone can help me, thanks

If you get the cam kit it will cone with double valve springs, should also tell you what it needs to be timed into, tom fenton did a good guide on timing in your cam, use the search.

Mitsi Evo 7, 911, Cossie. & all the chavs ...... won no problem

if you have decided on the SW5 cam which is a good choice for a n/a Engine

minispares cam followers and 525 fast road springs and a 3deg offset key is the my advise as the cam needs to be timed in at 107 deg......contact richard at minispares north......

i have just built a N/A engine for a guy with the sw5 cam in and one of my heads, on a standard block and pistons with low miles on the bores and it made ............... 87 bhp at the wheels not bad going, i think ....the cam picks the engine up very quickley!!! and is a fire breather for a street racer for the chavs....... *happy*

the guy raced a focus 120 bhp tdci and blew it a way with ease!

Thank you for your answers guys!

@Bennyy: I'll have a look at it!

@Benross: what is "n/a"? (sorry for my english! *happy*)

I still have a single timing chain, probably the same age as the engine, is a double one recommended?
Is the chain stretch considered in 107 degrees?

Yes, sorry! No induction, but a future project. *wink*

But I believe I'll get more technical information on this forum than anywhere else. I couldn't find anything on french forums, that's why I finaly post here.
