Having a bit of a head scratcher at the minute, looking at a std thou non turbo that's chucking out half a litre of oil from the tappet breather in 5 miles or so of motorway driving speeds. Comp test is 160 across all 4, and goes up by 5psi on a wet test, runs like a dream, no smoke, breather can is clear, filler cap breather is clear, no crankcase pressure at idle or at high revs on the drive. Any ideas?

only from the tappet breather and the other breathers are ok? could be some crap sitting in the tappet chest drain holes making the tappet chest fill with oil.

There's only the one breather on a std 998.

I did wonder if the tappet chest was filling up but surely it'd do it at sustained revs on the drive?

Just fitted a brand new cap, trying without one atm :s
Plumbed the breather back into the carb and after 30 seconds at 60mph massive plume of blue out the exhaust.

It's your old engine brett, lol :)
