Off topic I know, but I've just bought another 205 GTI, thought some of you would be interested.

It is a 1991 H reg Laser Green 1.6 GTI, this is one of the earliest cars made in this colour.
Bought new in 1991 it was owned by a chap near Nottingham for 12 months.
It was then bought by a Mrs Ruth Tootill of Rotherham who kept it until 1999 when she part-exchanged it at the local dealer against a brand new 206 GT (the homogation model with the extended bumpers to allow the 206 WRC car to meet minimum length regs for the WRC).
I previously worked with Ruth's ex-husband George, and in about 2004 did the head gasket on the 206 GT for her. At the time she mentioned that she used to have a 205 GTI, this is the car.
In 1999 with 60k miles on the clock it was bought by John Bingham, aged 67 who had just retired and so bought the 205 GTI he had been promising himself.
Roll on to 2011 and with his 80th birthday coming next year, and his 106 GTI bought new in 2002 to use, John decided it was time for the 205 to find a new home. By chance he struck up a conversation with a friend of mine who is into Triumph TR's, who directed John to me when he discovered it was a 205.
On viewing the car and discovering the history there was no way I could resist buying it. In the 12 years John has owned the car, it has covered less than 3000 miles, but was religiously MOT'd every year and taxed for the majority of the time too.

Just a couple of pics, this is literally 10 min after I picked it up.

Plan is to do a few odd jobs to make it perfect (not that it needs much) and then keep it wrapped up in cotton wool only to come out occasionally.

As a bit of Peugeot trivia, this colour (Laser Green) was not actually one of the Limited edition colours.

The limited edition cars were made in early 1990 and are usually on G or early H reg, they had the earlier grey plastic dash, orange indicators, earlier tail light clusters, and came with full grey leather interior. They were either Miami Blue (bright, electric blue) or Sorrento Green (dark, almost black looking metallic green).

Arguably Laser Green would have been a better special edition colour than Sorrento Green really.

Despite what many owners of later Miamis and Sorrentos may claim in their ebay adverts, only the early special edition cars with the leather trim and early style lights are limited edition. The two "special" colours became mainstrean in early 91 with the introduction of the "Phase 2" cars which had black dash, clear front indicators, and the newer style tail lights. This car I have just bought is an early Phase 2 car.

COUGH COUGH!!! Wake up now at the back!!!

This one is staying absolutely standard Steve, it is far too good to mess with.

I do like the 205 gti's relatively unmessed with. The only thing i feel that's lacking for me are the other 205 GTI alloys. Nice find :)

I do prefer the 1900 wheels, but this car is a 1600, and so on 1600 wheels it shall stay. It is too original to even consider messing with it.

From Sheffield now live in York tha noz

Looks like a great find, nothing nicer than an original unmessed with car, are there any interior pics?

Not really my thing but my cousin bought this last year with a full history and 80k on the clock, he has moved it on since but no shortage of buyers when he did!

pfft, you mock me for buying a 182, and then go and buy another one of these brick-o-cars? *wink*

Just playing - saw it on FB - looks immaculate. Awesome :) (altho I have never driven a 205 I've enjoyed except you white one!)
