Right lads, how many of you lads use FireGum on your outlet manifolds. I have been putting it on the gasket but it makes a right mess of the head.

I have always done it, as it would not seal and would piss out fuel on boost. I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Although they have only had limited running so far I have 2 turbo A-Series cars that are fine without anything but a gasket. |

I use sealant on the turbo to manifold flange, but not head to manifold.

Like wil, I use firegum on the turbo, both to the manifold and, if appropriate, the elbow to manifold.

I have always done it, as it would not seal and would piss out fuel on boost. If it pisses out fuel on boost it sounds like the inlet manifold isn't being clamped tight enough against the gasket. There seems to be a wide variation in the thicknesses of both exhaust and inlet manifold flanges and if they aren't both identical, one or the other won't seal. I made some stepped washers rather than use sealant. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

Simon.
Minivanless, but reluctantly happy living with the decision. There'll be another one day.
