Hi all

im having issues trying to get my laptop to retrieve the map from the british open classic, i struggled for a day trying to get the USB-serial convertor to work and finally sorted out the COM POrt for it.

When i load up the megajolt software it finds the port but it still has trouble connecting to the unit , i get the timed out error code.

Is there anyone in the bristol area that could come down with there laptop and cable to help me retrieve the map and check that its all working ok, the car runs fine but I just want to have the map and to make sure the MJ is all good.

Cheers

Gaz

If you over my way, you can borrow a laptop with a serial port and megasquirt cable, or arrange to get it collected

do the com ports in yourr device for the USB to serial adaptor are set the same in the Megajolt software.

If you move the device between USB ports you may find that the settings for the adaptor change too..

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

The ONLY serial cable I could get to work was from Maplin. I have 2 now.

They're not expensive. I assume it's the drivers that are good, not the actual cable.

Your welcome to borrow one, but you'd be better off buying one seeing you have megajolt in the car...

I can come down one evening - to run in the new engine of course, with the netbook and see what we can do??

its not the connector inside the mjlj unit is it? the one i had, had a break some where in the circuit board and i had to solder jumper wires onto the board

thats the next plan of attack after i get al to try his cable and laptop, is get the mjlj apart and check the connections. the cars coming off the road soon anyhow but it would be nice to have the map to check it over.
