Hi guys, looking at knocking myself up a rear disk set up, KAD stuff looks ace and that but thinking with the disk and hub arangment from force along with a motorbike calliper should be sufficient.

Yamaha do a large city commuter scooter step through thing, it appeared to have a cable actuation to the rear caliper as well as a hydraulic line, I spotted these when wandering around Barcelona last year, more investigation would be needed but they looked just the ticket.

That the callipers arent sided wont matter too much, car uses braded lines through out so easy enough to throw a chunk of wood between the pads and flip them upside down to bleed

Im not fussed about the handbrake, although there cheaper than i thought they would be, the non handbrakes ones surely cheaper still!

Well, for reference in case you do go down that route, the one on my quad is about £90 new (p/n 31360-A12-000 I think), they are used on a few different manufacturers so it might be possible to get 2nd hand ones.. never tried. |

its certainly something to consider anyway, If i didnt already have my lockable hydro HB id be using a cable system. And if anyone searches the site in the future it might give a few ideas.

Quad 180kg, me another 110kg, pillion?kg on a single caliper. It goes to over 120mph due to the stupid engine I've put in it. Never fails to work. The front ones get F hot and fade (about 4" disks!) but the back saves me! It is probably going to be on the limit with 2 on the back of a mini, I wouldn't use it for racing. |
