My thoughts are turning to the fact I've spent a few quid in the past 6 months on constant insurance changes for my daily driver and looking forward to the fact i'm hoping to pick up a cheap daily runabout as a second car on top of insuring the 2 minis next year.

I think the Admiral type policies are effectively linked seprate policies and would be no good for modified cars such as the minies.

Has anyone got one of the enthusiast policies? Having looked about, they seem to resemble the old Tradex policy I had a few years back but more catered to 'collectors' as opposed to motor traders.

I'd assume the draw backs are going to be agreed values, modified cars etc. I know I had limitations on the tradex cover regarding age of the car and in the end I'm sure they wouldn't cover modified cars (its been about 10 years since I had the policy).

Anyone got any comments? Do you all insure cars separately?

Rob

We have an Admiral Multicar policy for our road cars, so my Audi, Lisas MINI and the Shogun. As far as I can tell it is a true multicar policy, Admiral are the only company that offer this, despite others that advertise as offering Multicar policies, but actually do not when you phone up.
My 205's are insured seperately, the modified ones are with HIC, the standard one is with Footman James. All are on limited mileage policies.

I use RH Insurance - £70 p.a. for the A35 with all mods declared.

Easy people to deal with.

I was with admiral multicar on my lupo and 206. great for normal modern cars, but changed to a standard 998 mini from a 1.4 16v Lupo and they charged me more. Great service but in what world is a standard 998 mini more to insure then a Lupo sport.

Andy, the A35 is insured on the Club scheme, agreed value and comprehensive cover, no mileage restriction.

It must be worth joining some club (metro owners ?) to get a deal like this ?.

They knew your car and said they only insure it because they are the insurance club for your club. Not at all interested in a metro with about 5 x it's original power...

I tried to find a policy for two modified cars earlier in the year and failed, as I have the modified mini and a modified defender. There is at least one other company to try now.
