These new modern turbos with their quick spool up time, would make the competition harder.

+1
also whats the typical weight of an RTS set up on a standard flywheel?

i currently have a pre-verto set up, with standard flywheel.. if i can get a lightweight verto flywheel and it's lighter than my pre verto then it'll be a bonus!!

robert is sticking well over 200 though his, as is matty,

I estimate that one based on a pair of 1300 springs is good for 220ish hp, a pair of turbo onnes probably 250+

King Gaycharger, butt plug dealer, Sheldon Cooper and a BAC but generally a niceish fella if you dont mind a northerner

Rotherham, South Yorkshire

the one on the upside down skip uses two 998 springs and that holds 21psi without a hint of slip and is nice and gentle under foot

I know a std one weighs about the same as a north sea oil platform...but is it possible to get it lighter than a pre verto? As far as I know, no ones really done it yet

depends what preverto,

actually there isnt much difference between std verto's and pre verto's,

(from the internet) Std verto is 10.5kg (5.5 for the ringgear half 4.1 for the pressure bit)

the current MED billet outer is 3.6 KG so thats a saving of 2kg. total approx 7.8... similar to the steel lightwight setup, (not the ultralight)

Actually Joe...your abit of a scientist...whats the formula for the cars weight loss when you reduce the weight of rotating engine parts? Is it parts weight x gear ratio?????? Its something Jon F mentioned awhile back

0.5 x n2 x r2 + R2
_______________

R2

n = Total gear ratio (gear ratio x final drive ratio)

r = Radius of gyration (approx. 3.75” on a Mini)

R = Radius of wheel/tyre used.

Please note, I have seen some AP clutches without the metal retaining ring, and those I believe to be from the 998's

movement around a central point.... or spinnyness!

in this case its the (average) point where the material is removed from the flywheel to lighten it.

Ah I always thought mine was a valeo, as the other clutch I had, had slightly smaller spring plates and the metal retaining plate instead of the wire ring.

Both of my spring plates are turbo ones, and they both had the wire ring type retaining rings?!
