Get keys to new house tomorrow, looking at sealing the garage floors with 50/50 mix pva then two part garage floor paint painted over the top, was also thinking about 50/50 mix pva on the walls.

Any thoughts? really just want to keep concrete dust to a minimum while i have the chance.

At the risk of sounding like a muppet, is floor paint alone not enough?

one day boost will be mine!

I did PVA my floor and then used Leyland floor paint from screwfix. Worked fine. For the walls I just used the cheapest white paint I could find. Mind you the concrete blocks just sucked up the paint. Well worth it though.

I applaud the PVA plus paint, but cheap emulsion paint on the walls is enough, and white helps with keeping the light levels up.

You don't need to pva the floor unless it says on the tin

I mixed mine 5:1.

I found the easiest/quickest way was to just mix it in a bucket then just pour it over the floor and used a broom to spread it out. Took about half an hour to do the whole floor so well worth doing. *oh well*

i work at a chemical plant that produces different forms of laytex and we use one of them to mix with paint for this very reason best to use the cheapest paint you can and do a 50/50 mix lasts for years one guy painted the out side of his house about ten year ago and he says it still looks like new. i can get you some if you would like

Done now needs redoing lol

I can't comment on the floor (I never did mine) but I would highly recommend cheap white emulsion paint for the walls (as others have suggested) rather than PVA. Emulsion paint is PVA based anyway but having all the walls white really does improve working conditions under artificial light.

Bit of feedback

I PVA'd the double garage and then painted the floor with oil based paint 2 coats took 5ltrs with a little spare and looks good

I did not pva the single garage, took 5 ltrs of oil based paint (same as double) and was harder work to apply

Pva all the way imo

hay i went in a mate unit the other day and he put down second hand carpet tiles from an office or some where. they were cheaper then floor paint he said, and it make the place feel warm and nice to work on, it you have a spill you just lift up a tile! I likes it.

I had the same things with office tiles in my workshop, but got shot of them for the exact reason above.
