Wootton Bassett

So i was doing a search for running in oil and it came up with duckhams 20w 40

However i cant find some anywhere, what do you guys use and is that halfords classic oil with the mini on the tin any good?

You can get a gallon of 20/50 comma from Parkers motor factors for about £12, fine for running in. If it's going to do 500miles and get chucked then it doesn't matter. Then spend a bit more on decent oil. Lots of threads on here about oils...

Unipart 20w50 for older engines - has the correct ZDDP levels according to the can.

I had to pull the engine out of my wife's GT after 300 miles (spun big end) and the cam followers etc looked lovely.

Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

We are using the standard Halfords mineral 20-50W, not the classic stuff.

im running the same as the metty van i think, and likely the same as Paul s, i got the end of line stuff before the re brand @ 4quid a gallon ( i bought the lot )

i use valvoline vr1 20w50 and have for years and not had a problem with it when i took the gearbox off my old engine it still looked new.
