Hello !

Is it possible to fit a T2 on the standard exhaust manifold of a metro turbo engine with this engine fitted in a standard engine bay (in fact with no bulk-head modifications) ?

And if possible what sort of work is needed to achieve this ?

Thanks bye !

Hello guys I'm from France and since my 18th birtday I 'm dreaming of a turbo engine in my Mini. I'm here to do it !

Nice idea....

But not possible!

Mirrage manifold or weld a custom one yourself!!!

Hi , guys,
want to clear this empty end thread,
I asked this because I wrote by mail to alexandre that it is a possibilty , he asked a confirmation to this board, and was a little ofenced by this "nice idea , but not possible"( agree that I was iritable by everything this day) .Shortly I'm using a metro turbo engine with a T2 on the std manifold, and it fit easily with a little tweaks (t2 entry; cooper spi subframe; and an engine slightly balanced to the front ). I agree now that I prefer to cut the turbo box, but the first time ,I did'nt want to cut my shell, and this was easily done with two or three day of work, and this set up work fine from four years.

Fab, can you post a pic of how you mounted the actuator, as mine is still very close to the bulkhead even with a box cut in.

Sorry, It wasn't ment as a piss taking reply!

I already have a bulk head box welded, and with my setup, it doesn't look like it will fit without bulk head modifications.

And up untill now I wasn't aware that it had been done.

Post up some pics of how it all fits.

Here are some photo's of the T2 fitted to the standard manifold with an adapter plate.

You can see from the last photo, that my actuator is close to my bulk head.

Hi
I'l try to make some picies, but as you know Jim I haven't any numeric thing, and so it increase the difficulty, however , I'll try to sort some .This said, i'm not using an adaptator plate , and so i'm a little closer to the manifold, , about the actuator, I deplaced it closer to the engine side, and then modified the actuator stem to angle it as it will pass just as the same level as the waste gate valve stem , all now pass at 5 mm from the bulkhead. I can't use any insulation between the turbo and the bulkhead, and if I balance the engine a little more to the front, it'll then not accept a fmic between it and the front grill...............warf , I've done it and it is a very usable set up, which lower the difficulty level to make a turbo mini, but the space is now very very tight and at each service it is a nightmare, for ex i replaced my water pump their is 2 weeks, it took me half a day ( removing the alternator ( an adpted nipon denso from a starlet), the belt and the special tensioner, then the intercooler , all the intercooler piping ( don't laugh they are passing under the radiator ( tight here too), then removing the radiator, and so all the return lines from the turbo and secound radiator etc etc etc, after it 's needing to go back togever again and as all is very tight , it need tweaking and tweaking again to find the only place and exact angle as for ex, the intercooler piping under the raditor, as if it is not at it axavt place it will not allow the rad to go back exactly and will not allow the the long bolt to screw in the support tc etc etc . it 's why the next time I'll weld a very large and profond bulkead box .

OK as you can see I found the little photo apparel on the right of the text..........
on the upper pic you can "see" the actuator, just under the interccoler rubber piping, on the secound you can see that no turbo box was needed to pass my turbo set up.

Yahoo is known for not being able to outside link.

Fab, you will of been able to see the pictures because they're in you "yahoo account" as such. Because none of us are logged into you yahoo account we wont be able to see them.

Try using a different host such as www.photoisland.com for pictures. they allow outside linking of them *happy*

We sell a kit of manifolds that allow you to fit a Renault 5 spec T2 or similar to your mini with no need to make any bulkhead modifications. It will fit early and late minis using the larger vacum assist brake master cylinder.
