Hi Lee, lovely looking car.

It is possible to fit a turbo without modifying the bulkhead, you'd need a mirage or matty exhaust manifold though

current engine:
1340cc, bp270 cam, stage 2 head and 45 weber. now been fitted with 1.5 rockers and booked back on rollers next month.

hi andy, you tow'd my mate to the gates at MITP, i was with mark (coupe), hopefully see your there again bud.

car been back on rollers and now producing 96bhp N/A :) still only 600 miles on motor so hopefully will hit the 100 mark once run in *happy*, thinking of building a new engine over the winter months 1293cc supercharged.

picking a engine up hopefully on saturday just a standard 1275, going strip it down and squirrel new parts in under the wifes nose *surprised* for the supercharged engine.

has anyone played or fitted the Jonspeed kit and whats the best CR to go for, not fitting a de-comp plate going to build it the right way

Have you looking into the jonspeed kit? Quite a few people have used the same sort of kit amd said it was a waste of money, personally i cant comment but have a good search on here for some info. As for cr depends on what boost your looking for, wether you will be using carb, fuel injection ect.
Personally either go n/a k head or a turbo motor. Or stick woth the engine you have, develope it abit and go light weight *smiley*

not looked into the chargers yet, is it mirage that do a manifold where you dont have to cut your bulk head out?

Yes a mirage manifold, that uses the t2 turbo series. The renault 5 t2 is commonly used and you wont have to cut the bulkhead, however I think there was someone on here that was running a t25 (off an s13) that managed to run it without cutting bulkhead

If your thinking of going down the S/C route have you looked at the SRE blow through set up? Looks nice. Saw it at bingley the other year.

The turbo build has finally started

Forget the SC idea, turbo is the best solution.

There are lots of turbos that will fit without bulkhead mods if you have a manifold made. Ones that have been done that I know of:

T2
T25
GT1752
IHI RHf4

Others that may have been done or are in progress:

GT15 (44 and 48)

Iirc doesnt somone on here have. Gt20 without bh mods? Sre blow through was done on jonnysti mini before he sold the car. I like the sc idea but a good kit is hard to find the only one i would contimplate is the spec componants rotrex charger kit for the bmw k head, aparently they have got 191 bhp out of one on a 1310 k, originaly 115bhp before the sc kit went on

just been looking at the mirage manifold kit, only really wanted to supercharge as is a bit different than the norm. do believe the t2 and t25 varients fit without more angle grinding.
oh the choices, going to pick complete 1275 motor up this weekend and start the strip down then decide what to od after abit more investigation into the area of forced induction.

well since being placed up against the "DON" at MITP and getting shown how its done, i've decided to bite the bullet and join the forced induction revolution and build a turbo mini *happy*

mini has also been featured in MiniWorld this month which is great but the N/A has to go and be placed in a little corner of the garage just incase and a turbo fitted. not looking for all out power as dont want to cut the bulk head so looking at mirage manifold and T2. will be happy with 150 bhp.

currently have a complete SPI engine and box all stripped and ready to be rebuilt. so on the look out for various bits and bobs over the winter period and going to set a goal of MITP 2013 to be built and in the mini.
