Well the mini managed to make it all the way to castle combe, do 2 track sessions and home without the HGF as it usually does.

Since I've now got the love back for it after being away for 2 years it that time again to make some modifications.

first things first though is to find out actually what power its producing and then go from there, MJ shows a steady 203kPa so I assume that's about 14.8 psi sure someone will correct me if wrong.

whats your thoughts on power ???

Another rolling road victim or should i say trip home from UKminis RR day. Mini performed well but looks like its well and truly killed a wheel bearing on the way home.

Even had the 4 pin diff lock up again on the way down after chasing mate in his B18 mini, usual large bang as it released so thats coming out for a Quaiffe. Just need to find one or bite the bullet and pay Swifttune.

Came away with 2 trophies which was a surprise but not complaining.

They were tapered, think it's just the camera angle.

Got diff out now and there is play in one of the output shafts, I'll try and get the video up on here.

New quaiffe has arrived today just need to get it fitted and start the rebuild.

Lovely car mate! I'm building a turbo, but also have a weber box (changed my mind to go turbo shortly after welding it in and getting a respray!). I was wondering if you have any pics of how your wiring loom goes through the bulkhead?

Seems that rr mini has once again decided to throw the towel in and kill a head gasket on track after being battered for a good 20min at Castle Combe.

Managed to slide the old gasket out at event and put in a spare one as a quick fix to get it home but looks like it may have damaged the head or block as still run rough.

Time to pull the engine again and investigate more as well as fix he crunching 2nd gear.

Well it must be time for some upgrades, or as everyone has said ditch the turbo and go back tot Weber. Can’t see it happening but let’s see the damage first.

Suss the fault Lee and get it back together, got to be a reason why it eats gaskets.

I'd start by taking at least 2 degrees out of ignition timing across the board. Engines don't just knock at full throttle 😉

I'm sure its only running 22 degree so not overly advanced, the 14psi is more than likely the limit for the CR and it broke a hose clip and dumped its water a couple of weeks before so might have had a slight warp in the head.

Hoping it not too serious as drove mates mini that had a weber and its nothing on the turbo......

Time for some garage time a few evenings a week think I'm going to pull the head tonight and see the damage .

Wish us luck.

No way running 22deg of adv will you pop a gasket, I suspect your TDC reference is not where you really think it is - or there is it an honest mechanical issue causing this.

TDC was spot on when checked but that was years ago, cant see it moving though as a fixed unit made by Tom. I suppose it will be a check once I get the engine fixed.

Mini dropped some water weeks before on a run and think it might of warped the head maybe.

Think i'll be looking for a replacement block and head now though.

I remember hearing once about a harmonic that had the "teeth" machined into it, ran badly because the outer ring had "slipped" - never heard it happening since, and can't recall who it was - but it was a member on here I'm sure...

Well found sometime this evening and motivation to get some work done on the mini since it making a mess of itself at Castle Combe.

Engine in out and stripped enough to be taken to Benross to see if a skim will save both the block and head.
