above are a couple of photos of the rollcage that i have in my mini currently (not bolted in just resting in place)

i am having quite a bit of trouble getting things to sit right and line up

1st problem is the holes in the sleeves will not line up with the holes in the bars i have tried rotating the sleeves and swapping bars but nothing seems to be lining up which leads me to my 2nd questions

when the sleeves are just in place and all bars are where they should be the cage has uneven gaps under some of the legs and the the bars around the screen seem to far forward and tags in random places have uneven gaps.

is there a procedure to follow when fitting a rollcage?

Is the cage 2nd hand? I believe safety devices cages dont come pre-drilled
dont worry about the cage sitting slightly proud of the floor too, when you weld in the feet pack (and screen bosses) and bolt then in it will move into possision... sounds brutal but it works

Just to say, had alot worse gaps on some of the cars at work, usualy on OMP cages the customers insist on us fitting. The safety devices cages we supply are better but can still require a bit of wedging into place

Brett: i thought that the car might be on an unlevel surface so i checked and it seems ok but i havent taken into account the car itself having uneven heights all round (suspension wise) also more flex in the shell now that the roof is cut off.

Rich: i have the bits to weld into the shell which i got with the cage as the cage was second hand they had been pre cut out of the last person shell and now they are double the thickness.

Mini93: yeah the cage is second hand and was fitted to a ex miglia race car i never got the drivers name but i could find out and get back into contact with him. i also thought that it would pull into position but when the cage wasnt even in the shell and i put it together some of the nuts and bolts did not want to pull the cage bits in line and it was very tricky getting the sleeves to line up.

JT: have you got photos of the plates and what are the thickiness's?

Apabellamy: thank you, the black one (BLUE) has had to have two lumps cut out this week under his arms and they believe it could be cancerous :(

Mini93: if i bought this new i would been more then happy to let someone else fit it *happy*

sorry everyone but i didnt know how to qoute each message
